I can’t claim to know too much about George Stanford outside of this track, other than what Wikipedia can tell me (Philadelphia-based, on Mercury Records, used to be in a band called Townhall). Meet Me In LA sort of puts me in mind of Jackson Browne or ditch trilogy-era Neil Young, and is a crafted melody set to a sparse and effective backing. There’s also an unexplainable, eerie sense of doom both lyrically and throughout the execution of the performance. It’s available on the album Roll Away, released in March of this year.
